AHI Hosts Business Network Luncheon with Sports Reporter Larry Michael

WASHINGTON, DC—On October 29, 2004, the American Hellenic Institute hosted a business network luncheon at the Capitol Hilton Hotel with guest speaker, Larry Michael. Mr. Michael is Senior Vice President of Sports for Westwood One Inc. on CBS Radio Sports and the Voice of the Washington Redskins.

Larry Michael was born in Chicago, Illinois, grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland. The events he has covered include 8 Olympic Games from 1989-1996, 21 Open Golf Championships from 1980-2003, 12 Masters Tournaments from 1981-2004, 12 Super Bowls, Championship Boxing since 1987, 14 NCAA Tournaments, as well as Commercial voice-over work, and assignments for ESPN, ESPN2, Comcast Sportsnet, HBO, Showtime, and others.

During the one-hour presentation, Mr. Michael centered his discussion around professional football and his account of the Washington Redskins play-by-play on the radio. Furthermore, he touched on his Hellenic background and how this has instilled in him a strong work ethic, having worked in his father’s restaurant growing up. Mr. Michael gave career advice on how to multitask and use time management wisely. He then expressed his advise to those who would like to pursue a career in broadcasting by stating that this profession takes a strong commitment and it also helps to be in "the right place at the right time."

THE AMERICAN HELLENIC Institute (AHI), was founded on August 1, 1974, following Turkey’s invasion of Cyprus with the illegal use of American-supplied arms in violation of U.S. laws and agreements. The AHI initiated the rule of law issue in the Congress in the interests of the U.S., thus changing the face of American politics.
