Hosts "Today Show" Producer Dorie Klissas At Delaware
Networking Breakfast
On Saturday, November
3, 2001, the American Hellenic Institute's (AHI) Delaware Chapter
hosted a networking breakfast featuring Dorie Klissas,
producer at the NBC "Today Show" and an AHI member,
as special guest speaker. The event, originally scheduled for
September 15, 2001 but cancelled due to the tragic events of September
11, took place at the Hotel Du Pont in Wilmington, DE.
Ms. Klissas discussed
her experiences working at the "Today Show" and her
career overall. She also presented segments from a recent broadcast
that focused on The Christina, the Onassis yacht which
was recently renovated and purchased privately.
For the past six years,
Ms. Klissas has covered news, sports, entertainment, medical issues
and human interest stories for the program. As recently as this
summer, Ms. Klissas travelled with the "Today Show"
to Greece, where anchor Matt Lauer appeared for the "Where
in the World is Matt?" tour. In fact, she was responsible
for first bringing the show to Greece in 1997 for this same segment.
Interestingly, several years ago Ms. Klissas obtained the professional
lead to her current job through another AHI member she met at
an AHI Business Network event.
Special thanks goes
out to the event chairperson, James G. Faller, Ph.D., who
is also president of the AHI Delaware Chapter. Host Committee
members included: Mr. Gus Georgiou; Dr. Lazarus Kirifides;
Dean C. Lomis, Ph.D.; Dr. Constantine Michell;
Dr. Theodore Michell; Mr. Basil S. Savopoulos; Mr.
Nicholas D. Staikos; Peter N. Yiannos, Ph.D.; and
George Vassilatos, Ph.D.
AHI's networking events
reach out to the business experience of Greek Americans and put
that experience to work helping other Greek Americans through
the sharing of business information and contacts. For digital
